Module Overview

Once upon a time there were electrons and holes…

The course aims to provide a smooth introduction to the principles, electrical characteristics, and theoretical models of key semiconductor devices used in microelectronics. We will begin with the basics of semiconductor physics, focusing on the p–n junction and the field effect in semiconductors. Through a learning-by-doing approach in the laboratory, participants will investigate real devices and verify the semiconductor band model theory, the static and dynamic electrical characteristics of diodes and transistors, and the influence of temperature and light.
